Welcome to the 154th annual Sutton Fair and Horse Show. It has been a wonderful experience to represent the fair over the last year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff who helped out at the fair last year, volunteering their time and giving so much of themselves. It is because of such dedication from so many people that we are able to bring the fair together each year.

Last year, as many know, it rained almost constantly, flooding the midway and soaking many visitors. We didn’t let the wet weather dampen our spirits however, and some highlights of the fair included the senior and junior fair ambassador programs, Georgina Idol, the light and heavy horse pull, and the derby, to name but a few. This fair encourages so many individuals to take a break from their lives for one weekend to learn about agriculture, and to enjoy the rich farming heritage in Sutton and surrounding areas.

I have seen the impact of volunteerism within this community, and was able to experience it first hand through the Terry Fox Run the Sutton Santa Claus Parade, the Remembrance Day parade, and agricultural meetings. Being the ambassador has truly been a life changing and eye-opening experience and I am honoured to have had this opportunity. I encourage each and every one of you to come out and visit us at the fairgrounds this August. We are crossing our fingers for better weather this year.
